In John 4:23-24 the Holy Scriptures proclaim,
“But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."Printed in red letters, these are the words of Christ. I don’t know how many times I have read or heard these words and yet did not truly comprehend them until recently. Now they seem to thunder their meaning to me. We have noted before that absolute truth requires total knowledge of all things past present and future. Without omniscience there is a possibility of error.
The majority of Christians worship him in spirit but do they worship him in truth also? Is God real? Is the Bible’s history true? Is the Bible’s geology true? Is the Bible’s astronomy, medicine, anthropology, meteorology etc. true? Creation scientists that are Christians proclaim the Bible is true and there are no conflicts with true science. Think about it, the Bible must be true or else the gospel could be nonsense, because the gospel is based on the Holy Spirit’s Bible account of what happened.
Christian, can you accept the Bible’s account of what happened on the evening and morning of day one through six? Man was created on day six without millions of years of scientifically impossible evolutionary nonsense. Eve was taken from Adam’s side and proclaimed the mother of all living without any scientifically impossible evolutionary assistance. Adam’s disobedience brought death into the world without millions of years of deaths and births before his fall. We need a Savior because Adam has to be a real actual genuine historical person.
Since Darwin confused the church 150 years ago the church has adopted largely a worship of God in spirit but has almost abandoned worshipping him in truth also. Can this be remedied? Yes, all that is required is to believe the Bible as written and come back under its authority. The reformation of Luther was very simple and consisted only of a return to the authority of the Holy Spirit’s Bible, proclaiming we are saved by grace through faith alone.
I am sorry if that is so simple. But God loves to confound the wise with the simple. There are no millions of years. Evolution is a scientifically impossible satanic religion. It tries to remove God from the position of supernatural omniscient omnipotent creator ex-nihilo (from nothing) and make the Bible appear to be false. Like Luther, God help me, I can take no other position.
May God help us to return to the authority of the scriptures. It is my prayer that God will help us to worship him in truth as well as spirit. Are you content to worship him in spirit only?
